The distance to Manchester Airport is 63 miles, 100 kilometres. The time to travel is one hour and 35 minutes. 

From the Liverpool John Lennon Airport is it 716 miles, 115 kilometres. It is one hour and 35 minutes drive. It is possible to go by private transport to Shropshire. You could go by taxi, coach or minibuses.

Travel by road

The biggest junction by road in the district Shropshire is in Shrewsbury. The main road crosses each other at this point. The connection road M54 connects Shropshire with the city Birmingham. The connection road A5 is one of the main roads. This road goes through the whole country, from Wales via Shrewsbury through Bangor.

Business Travel and Tourism

Shropshire has a lot of locations for congresses and business meetings. One of these locations is the Shropshire Food Enterprise Centre. This centre is situated at the Vanguard way Battlefield Enterprise Park in Shrewsbury. Shrewsbury is the main city of the district Shropshire. The Windsor Conference Centre is located in the Ludlow Food Centre and is situated at the Bromfield Ludlow. Ludlow is located in the south of Shrewsbury.

Golf Travel and Tourism

Tours in Shropshire

While travelling by Shropshire there are numerous things to visit. Additionally there is a steam train. This train starts at Bewdley in Worcestershire. The train runs between Bewdley, Kidderminster and Bridgnort. 

Transportation to and from the airport

Liverpool John Lennon Airport

The distance to the Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LPL) is about 72 miles, about 115 kilometres to Shrewsbury away by car. The time you will be travelling to Liverpool John Lennon Airport is approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes.

City Tours in Shrewsbury

There are no cars allowed in the city centre, so it is not possible to make a city tour by car.

The route follows the trail of Charles Darwin schoolboy, by nature. The route is about 3.5 miles and takes less than an hour. The other trails are spread over the area of Shropshire.

The castle was built between 1065 and 1075 and is located in the north of Shrewsbury. The castle has turned into the Shropshire Regimental Museum, where a collection is exhibited. This collection includes photos, medals and uniforms.

The Attingham Park

This park is located in Atcham. Atcham is located in the southeast of Shrewsbury. The facilities include a park and a tea house. For families, the park has a number of facilities, such as a family game, a playground for children and a quiz for children. In addition, the park also has a cafe.

The square of Shrewsbury

This square is located in the historic centre of Shrewsbury. Various events are given here during the year, including Shrewsbury Carnival, but the day of the cultural differences is also celebrated in the square. A famous festival that is given in August is the Shrewsbury Folk Festival.

The Severn Theatre

Shrewsbury has a new theatre, called the Theatre Severn. The theatre is located in the central part of Shrewsbury. In addition it has a varied program of shows. There is a possibility of an educational activity and it has a dance school. There is also a restaurant which provides some delicious meals.

The Quarry Park

The park is located in the east of Shrewsbury. The Quarry park is a perfect place where you can relax. It is also a place for events such as a dragon boat race. In August there is the Shrewsbury Flower Show. This is the longest running horticultural exhibition stand here and therefore they use about 3 million flowers. It is also the perfect place to stroll or to keep a picnic.

The Roman city Wroxester

Wroxester is located in the southeast of Shrewsbury. Of the Roman Empire English Wroxester Vierna was the largest city. Currently it is a museum where it is possible to get an audio tour. A new city hall opened at Roman times which can be visited. The town hall is part of the TV program “Rome was not built in a day" on the British television Channel 4.

Sabrina boat trip

It is possible to take a boat to sail on the river Severn. The Sabrina has a double deck, which makes it possible to see the water. This boat sails through the Welsh bridge at some sights. Some sights where the boat sails at are new Theatre Severn, and of course the castle of Shrewsbury.
The Welsh Bridge in Shrewsbury connects the city by the main route to Wales. The bridge was built in 1795 and connected the town with the Frankwell area. This bridge crosses the River Severn. John Tilley is the designer of this bridge and he also built the bridge.

Shopping

There are shops for everyone. In Shrewsbury there are shopping malls including the Parade. The Parade is known for the interior and exterior of the building, neo-classical style on the outside and on the inside it has a Victorian style. The shopping centre is located in the central part in Shrewsbury. Besides shopping malls, there are several unique shops scattered throughout the city.

There are about 65 different pubs in Shrewsbury. Armoury is a traditional European pub. From this pub there is a lovely view of the water. This pub is located in the central part of Shrewsbury. There is also a possibility to go for a nice lunch here.

Another type of café in Shrewsbury is Cafe Nero. We recommend tasting the local pub food with your group or your guide. There are various Italian coffee types available here which are worth the try. In addition to a cup of coffee at Cafe Nero there is also a possibility to eat. The food focuses on the Italian cuisine.
