Tours in the Southend-On-Sea

Southend-On-Sea is a town and seaside resort in the county of Essex. It lies on the north side of the Thames estuary, in the Thames Gateway, and is located about 64 kilometers east of central London. Southend-On-Sea is bordered to the west by Castle Point and to the west by Rochford. Southend-On-Sea is known for the longest pier in the world: the Southend Pier. The city now offers much more than the recreational pier: restaurants, clubs, shops, theaters and museums. Southend-On-Sea is the largest town in the county of Essex and is very easy to reach. The London Southend Airport (SEN), which is situated on the North side of the city center of London, is also very close and is one of the six major airports of London. From London you can travel by train in less than an hour in Southend-On-Sea. Southend attracted many tourists in the summer months and it grew into a resort. There was plenty of beach space to swim in the sea. There were good rail connections. Besides the tourist area Southend was also known as sleeping city. Employees who worked in London often lived in Southend and commuted every day up and down.

Transfers to and from airport

When you want to continue your travel by bus, all the above companies are waiting for you. You can reserve or request transportation in the city of Southend-On-Sea, where you can choose from multiple specialized companies, and you can request a size or specific type of bus. In addition there are a number of other companies that offer transfers to and from the airports. One of those companies is Air porters, situated at 77 Earls Hall Avenue Southend-on-Sea. They offer transfers to five of the six airports: Heathrow (LHR), Gatwick (LGW), Luton (LTN) Stansted (STN) and London City (LCY). The prices are between 60-90 pounds depending on which airport.

A second company that provides transfer to and from the airport is Imperial Cars and Cour Irish (ICC), located at 152-160 City Road, London. They offer transfers to and from the airports Gatwick, Heathrow, Stansted, Southend, Luton and London City. Their fleet consists of seven different types of cars, including one specifically for wheelchairs. Prices are not on the site.
Southend Airport Taxi also offers transfers to and from airports. They can also take you from one airport to the other airport. Prices range from about 60-90 pounds.

City tours in Southend

A tour through Southend is best to do by foot. The area is quite large, but there are some places you should not miss. First, of course, the beach and the pier. The pier is the longest recreational pier in the world, and is well worth a visit. In addition, a visit to the beach is no punishment. Walk along the wild flowers, inhale the delicious scent of flowers and walk along the colorful meadows in Belton Hills, Chalkwell Park and South Park Church. This can all be done on foot, but it"s best to catch the train to Leigh on Sea, there to behold the coastline.

Nightlife

In the evening it"s time to relax with a drink and a snack. At Cliffs Pavilion you can go to concerts or attend a West End musical. The Palace Theater provides live music, drama or comedy. In Kursaal the whole family can enjoy the bowling alley and when older, you can try your luck at the Rendezvous Casino. There are also plenty of restaurants, bars and clubs.

Club Talk, Lucy Road Southend, Southend is the biggest club. It raises three large halls with five VIP areas and a covered smoking area. The club is equipped with the latest technology such as LED graphic displays. Bar Bluu, Lucy Road Southend, belongs to club Talk. It features a large terrace overlooking the sea. Also club Element, Alexandra Street, Southend-on-Sea, is a trendy club that is equipped with several rooms and a terrace.

There are over 300 restaurants to choose from for a bite to eat. Enough to choose. You can enjoy the typical English cuisine but also international cuisine. You can eat at the best restaurants and bistros in the city center, but you can also choose to go eat at Hamlet Court Road. This street is known for its many culinary delights.
Besides the well-known restaurants, you can also enjoy the delicious food at stylish restaurants, traditional pubs and the typical fish restaurants with freshly caught fish at Leigh on Sea.

Every year there are a number of festivals including the maritime festival, cricket festival and the Armed Force festival.

The maritime festival is truly a family trip. The festival has everything to do with the sea. You can go pier fishing and boating. There is something for everyone. 

The Cricket Festival is held in June every year and has a full program of exciting events. The Armed Force festival is a fun family affair. The event was created from the mind that all soldiers should be supported. At the festival you can see military vehicles, there are parades and a 12-hour concert.

Cudmore Grove

Cudmore Grove offers tourists a trip to the coastline, which is slightly different from a normal shoreline. It is located on the east side of Mersea Island and the park features a sandy beach backed by a large open lawn. This is perfect for summer activities. In summer the beach is crowded because of the cool breeze that makes a hot summer"s day more pleasant. The beach is also the living place of many animals. Another advantage to Cudmore Grove is the pound and goes to Brightlingsea. In addition, visitors can walk along the rocks and the remains of the Tudor fort view.
