Travel and Tourism in Darlington County

Darlington is a small county, with greatest place of interest the capital Darlington. Your tour with private transport in a rented coach bus with driver around Darlington can start at the smaller towns / villages include Middleton, St George, Heighington Village, Redworth, Hurworth on Tees and Sadberge. These places are not very touristic and therefore they offer just a few opportunities to entertain tourists. Some places are worth a visit though.

Middleton Saint George

It is a small town two miles away from the outskirts of the town of Darlington. This small town keeps a great treasure though, namely the "Preston Park". It presents you all the magnificence of the Victorian era in 1895 again. You will see people working with old printers from that time and forgers sweating over the hot fire. The entrance fee is only 2 pounds for adults and 1 pound for children.

Heighington Village

This was elected in 2006 from about 11 other small towns, by Ptolemy Dean, as the BBC"s Perfect Village. One of the most beautiful sights here is the St. Michael"s Church. This is a Norman Church except for the 13th century south aisle and the 19th century north aisle.
