MOTI museum

MOTI is set in an old men"s house on the Boschstraat. This House served formerly as a care home. MOTI is an abbreviation of the Museum of the image. MOTI is a museum specialised in Visual culture. The museum leave the world of the image by different ways. So you see film, design, photography, fashion, art, architecture, science and gaming. At MOTI you will find different exhibitions, publications and symposia, and also their own collection on display. This collection consists of several objects of various designers. Among other things you"ll find at MOTI Otto Treumann, Jan Toorop and Harold Oxenaar. You can visit the museum at Tuesday-Sunday 10: 00-17: 00. You pay for the regular entrance 7.50 euro.

Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk

This church stands in the middle of the city centre. The Church is on the Grote Markt. The Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk is the most important monument of Breda. The Church is built in the 15th century, and has a rich history with culture and history. The Church is known for its beautiful outside architecture. In the Church are different monuments and wall paintings. The showpiece of the Church is the painting that reflects the history of the Sacrement of Niervaert. This painting is located in the Nievaart chapel. Also the chapel is beautifully decorated with gold leaf. In this chapel are several members of our Royal family buried. You must make an appointment in advance for these activities.

"t Sas Breda

Breda is of course one of the biggest shopping cities of Netherlands. Next to the shopping centre of Breda you also have "t Sas. "t Sas is a courtyard close to the Large church with more chic shops than the normal shopping centre. There are 3 possibilities to enter "t Sas. The main entrance is on the Lange Brugstraat. The entrance is across the Baroness. Furthermore, the TorenStreet and the Havermarkt are also entrances. There are several shops. So you can also find shops of living and lifestyle articles. Besides shopping, you can also enjoy on a terrace with a snack and a drink. Also there is a possibility to follow cooking workshops. "t Sas has quaint shops as well as culinary delights. There is even the possibility to spend the night at "t sas. Bliss-Hotel is an ideal hotel to stay if you feel 1 day at "t Sas is not enough!

Grote Markt

On the Grote Markt it is pleasantly busy all year round. Especially in the summer period is this market a much visited place. Many people come here for a snack and a drink on the terrace. The market is located in the heart of Breda. The market is surrounded by a variety of attractions such as the old town hall, the Onze-Lieve-Vrouwe church and the War Memorial Judith with the head of Holofernes. You will also find several cosy restaurants. There is something for everyone. You can spend as much as you want. On this square festivals and events are regularly organized. For example, the start and the finish of the singel-run take place on the Grote Markt. There is also an annual jazz festival here.

Valkenberg Park

Valkenberg Park is a city park in Breda. This park is located behind the castle of Breda. This park was formerly the grounds of the Castle. In this park you will see remnants of the Defense towers. Also you will see a beautiful Fountain, the Barony monument and various images of Hercules among other things. In this park are also several playgrounds for the little ones. This park is often the main route for people who walk from the train station to the Centre. In the park are also different events. Examples include the Breda Barst festival and the Valkenberg Concerts.

Castle of Breda

This castle was formerly inhabited by the Dutch nobleman Jan van Polanen. The castle was built in 1350. This castle is known for its beautiful castle canal and his good relationship with the members of the House of Orange-Nassau. During the second world war, parts of the army of Germany housed here. Also, the Castle used to function as a military barrack. This castle is now used as an institute for military purposes. The castle is open to the public only during the Brabant Castle days. The visiting hours are on the site.

Good food and specialties in Breda

In Breda there"s plenty of choice of restaurants of different price ranges. Breda is a student city. Because of this, there are enough restaurants where you can eat for little money. There are also more luxurious restaurants in Breda.

Breda has no culinary specialities. However, Breda used to have a private brewery. The brewery, called the 3 Horse Shoes unfortunately no longer exists. But you can still enjoy the real Breda beer.

As a main dish, the steak is recommended. To finish up you can choose from several different desserts such as cheesecake. What"s so special about the dishes here is that all dishes are named after events in politics. For example, a tomato soup as hot Roemers tomatoes formation. You can fit a large group of people at the table here.

This restaurant is located on the Kerkplein. It is a cosy restaurant with a cosy interior. During the entire evening you will be served with small snacks. There are no starters, mains or desserts. There are several specialties available on the menu. So are the squid rings a real winner here!

For a successful pub crawl you are in Breda at the right place. One of the busiest streets of Breda is the Vissersstraat. In this street there are several hip and cozy cafes. Feestcafé Dinges is also located on the Vissersstraat. This is a cozy après ski café. Despite the small space, they throw a hell of a party every night. Events and celebrations

There also are different events in Breda. One of the biggest events in Breda is the HBO intro festival. During this festival, thousands of college students use this as an introduction to start their student life. The HBO intro festival takes place to a large extent on the Grote markt, but also in other parts of the Center. Of course you also have Dance Tour. This event is organized throughout the country, and therefore also in Breda. This event takes place in the summer. Thousands of young people come to this event and this is a big party every year.

Nature

The most beautiful nature of the province is mainly found in the national parks such as Loon and Drunen Dunes, De Biesbosch and De Groote Peel, the GrensparkThe Zoom KalmthoutHeide, and in the wooded area of Breda.
