Tips for Agadir mini-bus and coach tourism

Useful tips for Agadir bus groups with ‘what to see’ and ‘what to do’ items and  ‘bus- friendly’ or must see tourist sites in Agadir. Check our list of attractions before planning your bus tour with a stop or departure in Agadir. Let us know if your favourite attraction or ‘bus-stop’ is not there and you think we should add it to our list of Agadir highlights.

With so much competition for the tourist dollar there are vehicles to suit every group"s needs, ranging from 8 seater minibuses to luxury 56 seater coaches. In Agadir, the coach rental market focuses almost exclusively on tourists and that has led to excellent facilities. While it might not reach the highest European standards, the coaches are generally very clean, spacious, and comfortable.

Full day hire starts at around €400 for a large coach. Some companies specialise only in Agadir coach rentals while other tour agencies offer this as an extra service and include a tourist guide but at a similar price.

What to see around Agadir with a hired minibus

Agadir was destroyed by an earthquake in the 1960s and most of the old city was destroyed. It was rebuilt in a European style, with wide boulevards and modern buildings. While most tourism is centered on the beach and promenade, if you have a rented coach with driver in Agadir you can easily get out to many attractions that reveal the authentic and original side of Morocco.

Souk El Had

Every Moroccan city has a souk and Agadir"s is one of the best. It"s out of town and there is a dedicated coach park. Inside this souk there are over 3000 stalls, so if you can"t find what you"re looking for then there is something wrong. They sell everything at Souk El Had. Olives, spices, trainers, baby clothes, curios, ceramics, leather, fish, camel meat, and then loads of Chinese manufactured household items. While there are specific sections, it"s best to leave the driver and your (mini) bus in the parking lot and just walk around and see what you discover. Remember to haggle hard, and remember the number of the gate your coach is parked outside.

Souss-Massa River National Park

60kms south of Agadir, this national park is famous for its huge variety of birds. While the surrounding landscape is red, this green park provides an alternative vista of the country. A good break on any bus tour where your bud starts hurting because of sitting to long. There are various signposted walks through the park as well as plenty of viewing platforms. While it"s undeniably beautiful, most people"s highlight is the sounds of various competing birds.

Taroudannt

This town is an ode to old Morocco, surrounded by city walls and standing proud in the dusty desert landscape. The old palace is run down but atmospheric, and the central square is a mass of traditional cafes with old men drinking espresso and smoking. From here it"s also possible to continue by road to Marrakech by taking the brilliant Tizi n"Test mountain pass at 2100metres above sea level. Highly recommended stop for any bus or coach tour!

Taghazout

Head north from Agadir for 15kms and you"ll find this hippy surfing village. It"s got a very different vibe to Agadir, and with all the colourful trousers on display you might think that you"ve landed somewhere in the middle of India. While the tourists might have dreadlocks and beards, the locals are welcoming to all and this is a great place to spend a relaxing afternoon. It"s also the best place to come if anyone in your group is serious about learning to surf. The surf school can rent equipment and offer surfing classes. Make it a day trip and invite your bus driver to join you in the surf classes.

Imouzzer

There are many cute berber towns around Agadir so why choose Imouzzer? This town offers a charming setting, fantastic views, and a green oasis at the foot of the mountains. It"s peaceful, tranquil, and a great chance to see old Moroccan culture. But Imouzzer also offers mountain exploration. Just 3kms from the town is a series of waterfalls that take the breathe away. There are also many hiking routes to take, some of which can be done by donkey if you"re that way inclined.
