The northern mountains round trip

The north of Morocco makes for a great round trip from Fes. These green mountains are cool in summer, warm in winter, and full of beautiful sights. Leave Fes and visit Meknes and Volubilis before continuing along the winding roads to the charming town of Chefchouaen. Tucked into the mountains this town has been completely painted blue and is a four drive from Fes. Further along the road is the northern coast, where Berber towns like Tetouan await.

With your driver into the Sahara Desert

The classic Moroccan trip starts in Fes and then passes through numerous different landscapes and sights before finishing in either Fes or Marrakech. It can take 3-7 days depending on your speed and a car with driver will cost €600 – 1200 for the whole trip.

• Leave Fes and see Meknes and Volubilis
• Head into the Atlas Mountains, stopping at the picturesque town of Midelt
• Continue into the Sahara Desert at Merzouga and take a camel trek, sleeping in the 350 metre high sand dunes
• Let your driver take the mountain road and pass the great Dades and Todra Gorges
• Explore old Kasbahs and crumbled villages like Alt Ben Haddou
• Finish the trip by driving back to Fes or continuing to Marrakech
