we hadden twee ritten geboekt (ophalen en terugbrengen naar huis ivm vakantie). De tweede rit bleek niet meer nodig te zijn en ondanks herhaalde verzoeken hebben wij geen enkele tegemoetkoming gekregen van Driving Force en werd gezegd dat dit als een annulering werd gezien waarvoor je 100% van de kosten kwijt was. Ik vind dit niet fair aangezien de variabele kosten (diesel) niet zijn gemaakt door het bedrijf en een gedeeltelijke compensatie op zijn plaats zou zijn.

Geachte heer Zimmerman,
Misschien goed om nog even duidelijk te stellen dat u ( en wij als een gevolg ) te maken kreeg met een gewijzigd reisschema. Uw ophaaladres voor de terugreis veranderde van Brussel in Amsterdam Schiphol en ook het ophaaltijdstip werd aangepast, van 18.00 u in Brussel naar 08.00 u in Amsterdam. Wij konden onze planning aan dit nieuwe schema aanpassen. Echter omdat er sprake was van 225 extra te rijden kilometers vroegen wij een zeer schappelijke meerprijs (van slechts €200) in overeenstemming met deze afwijking van de eerdere gemaakte afspraak. U was niet bereid deze meerprijs te betalen en verkoos de trein als oplossing. U wenste dus geen gebruik te maken van onze diensten terwijl deze wel gepland stonden cq. een alternatief werd aangeboden. Dit maakt het voor ons inderdaad een last minute annulering van uw kant. De voorwaarden, zoals ook gepubliceerd op de RentAutobus website zijn hierover duidelijk: annuleren onder 48 uur betekent het volledige bedrag verschuldigd. Geen teruggave. Nu proberen we altijd coulance te betrachten en de klant tegemoet te komen. Ook in dit geval, waarbij het probleem toch echt elders is veroorzaakt, hebben wij een uiterst redelijk alternatief geboden. Zie hiervoor.
We zijn van mening dat we aan onze verplichtingen hebben voldaan binnen de gegeven mogelijkheden. Het gaat ook nog eens om een extra drukke dag in verband met terugkerende vakantiegangers. Met andere woorden door uw vervoer hebben we andere opdrachten niet kunnen aannemen. Om dan ook financiële gevolgen voor onze rekening te nemen, nogmaals voor een probleem dat niet door ons is veroorzaakt, lijkt ons daarom niet van toepassing. Wat ons betreft zou u voor compensatie moeten aankloppen bij de partij die het probleem heeft veroorzaakt, Air liner of anders.

We're sorry to say we had a very negative experience with Donald of the Driving Force company. Although we had provided him with the itinerary before hand through using the contact method on your site, he said he didn't know what we were planning. He made a big point of making sure we understood the driving regulations which we did and we sat with him the next day and went over the schedule with him so he would have more precise information. This was difficult for us to be 100% accurate due to not knowing the area, how much traffic there would be, etc, and he got angry with us every time our timing was off. In fact on at least 2 occasions he yelled at the entire group - 13 of us and threatened to park the bus at the side of the road and not continue until we gave him more precise timings (which was a contradiction as he was often off on the timings he gave us.)
We were terribly embarrassed to be called out in front of our friends and everyone was negatively impacted and felt badly following his outbursts. We thought after the first outburst that we should cancel the rest of our time with him and rent cars but then were not able to do so because it was a holiday and no cars available. So we continued but things did not get better. On the last day he got into an argument with the tour guide we had hired, threatened to drop us off at the side of the road if we did not leave Omaha Beach immediately, just when we had arrived. We didn't understand his urgency as we were heading from there to our hotel which was a 3 hour drive at the most, with traffic. He was insisting it was 4 hours, though the travel guide told us otherwise. As a result we arrived at our hotel the last evening an hour and 40 minutes early and were forced to miss visiting Omaha Beach and the Bayeux tapestry which we had planned on visiting with our guide. We still had to pay our guide the full amount previously agreed upon and missed seeing these sites, for many of our friends, the only opportunity they will ever have to see them. Because of his rude and unreasonable insistence, we missed many of the items scheduled in our itinerary. (There was heavy traffic our first day and missing one of these place was probably unavoidable for which we do not blame him. He was a cautious driver but went only about 80 k/h which we felt ate up a lot of out time.) Additionally, he did not seem to know the area well and took us to wrong entrances and relied completely on his GPS.
We can honestly say this is the worst travel experience we have ever had and we frequently take groups to the Middle East and other places in Europe. He was among one of the most disagreeable people we have ever dealt with. Some might say we Americans are too laid back or too easily offended - regardless, if you hope to keep American customers we would think you might want to look more closely at this company. We have no complaint with your company but just wanted to share this as a word of warning. Take it as you choose.
Due to our driver, we missed out on seeing: Giverny, Chateau Gaillard, had only a very short time in Rouen, the submarine pens in L'Orient, Guided tour of Omaha Beach and the Bayeux tapestry - a big disappointment to several in our group.

Thank you for your extensive review and comments.
Concerning your tour I share the same onfortunate experience as you do. Unfortunately it just did not work out between us.
Let us start at the beginning. It appeared that your budget was limited so I made you a special offer: a very sharp all inclusive fixed rate based on a maximum of 10 service hours/ day. Service hours defined as time per day that vehicle and driver are at your disposal, starting at pick-up in the morning and ending at drop off in the evening. In the preparation phase you presented a list of things and places to visit per day. You call your list an itinerary which it was not. An itinerary is a detailed planning which includes names and addresses of places to visit, duration per visit and traveling time between visits. Unnecessary to say that an itinerary has only value if it is strictly followed up on.
Right on pick up in Paris, in front of the whole group, I explained the European rules regarding driving hours and rest time that apply for bus drivers. Not to forget mentioning that these same rules make also part of our Terms and Conditions of which a copy was sent to you beforehand together with our offer. I asked you kindly when we first met in Paris to review your list against what you paid for, 10 service hours per day, and the rules.
Already the first day we made a much longer day than the agreed 10 hours. So I requested you again to review your list for the next day that same evening. Pick up next day was at 10.30 h ( we only left at 11.00 h ) because you wanted to go to the local market first. Nothing wrong with that of cours. But don’t tell me that due to the driver you missed out on sight seeing….
During the 2nd day we were able to come up with an itinerary for day 3. Because day 3 promised to be a long day I was kind enough to offer you 2 additional service hours against no extra cost. But also this extended itinerary could not be kept by you. There was a change of plan and as a result we had to skip your next destination to stay within legal hours.
To summarize I can only say that I am sorry that your experience was unfortunate. However do not blame it all on me. Trips like yours require a solid preparation. From 2 sides. Knowing were you are going, knowing what you like to see and visit and how much time you like to spend are critical for a successful trip. A professional tour leader can make a difference in this respect. Also please be informed on matters which may have a direct impact on your plans : legislation, bank holidays etc.
We are bus drivers with one goal in mind taking you safely from A to B, respecting the rules. Of course preferably in a relaxed and client friendly way. However if a client shows little respect for our work and our responsibilities we may become somewhat grumpy. You are right in noting.

El viaje se ha desarrollado normalmente.
Un punto negativo a la ida, es el hecho que el conductor nos informó que tenia que parar durante 3/4 de hora, debido al tacografo, pues como el venia de Gante y nosotros embarcabamos en Amberes, el tiempo de Gante a Amberes entraba en el computo del tacografo.
Consideramos que no es normal, pus no hemos solicitado un Gante / Amberes / Amsterdam.
Al final, debido al tacografo cuyo tiempo se habia agotado, el conductor ha tenido que dejarnos en un sitio, que no era la dirección solicitado.

We follow up on European legislation regarding driving and resting hours. See enclosure. This normally reflects 10-12 services/ day= at disposal of client. For more hours a 2nd is required, costing 275 euro/ day.

Price for 3 days, 10-12 service hours/ day: 1.800 euro all in.
Please be aware that more hours would require a 2nd driver increasing the cost ( we are bound to following legislation regarding driving and resting time for bus drivers ).

Very bad experience. Driver are mean and very bad in communication. They are not knowledgeable about the places they are taking us to. They dont know where to drop and pick us and where to park. They give excuses in case you want to do any changes to the plan although I informed them that my plan is not fixed and it could be changed. They dont want to give any information about the country or speak with the client. For any change they ask for extra money. Greedy and rude people.

We took notice of your rating and comments. You will probably not be surprised to learn that our observations are different from your findings.
Is a good thing. But there are limitations.
As we informed you extensively in our confirmation letter we are supposed to comply with European rules on driving hours and rest time for bus drivers. By not keeping the travel schedule and constantly changing it you created a tense situation for the drivers. They had to work with the stress of not staying within allowed hours.
You had no intention whatsoever to cooperate and communicate with the drivers in a constructive and pleasant manner in order to lower the stress level.
As you know it as well it takes 2 to tango...

Driver was extremely professional, courteous and safe. He contacted us directly when we arrived in country and provided his personal contact information. Speed limits vary in Belgium according to the size of the vehicle so trip times need to be adjusted accordingly. Our driver explained this to us and worked with us to ensure everyone had a great trip.
